What is Hoof and Beak?
Getting Back to the Land, the Body, and the Community
At first glance, “Hoof and Beak” might sound like the name of a farm. And yes — we do have animals with hooves and beaks walking the pastures. But the name goes far deeper. It’s a symbol of how we live, how we work, and what we believe it takes to truly thrive.
Hoof and Beak grew from a simple truth - that real health was rooted in nature. We integrate movement, food, and holistic care in ways that are simple, ancestral, and sustainable. It’s a return to the fundamentals: move your body, eat like a human should, get outside, and live in alignment with the land around you.
The Meaning Behind the Name
The hoof is strength, structure, and daily discipline. It’s the body in motion. It’s early mornings, heavy lifting, showing up when it’s hard, and doing what needs to be done — often unseen, but always essential.
The beak is the voice. The mind. The clarity. It’s guidance, wisdom, nurturing, and leadership. It sees the big picture and reminds the hoof why the work matters.
For us, this isn’t just symbolic — it’s personal.
I’m the hoof. Chelsey is the beak.
I do the grunt work — the physical, the practical, the push-through-the-hard-stuff part.
Chelsey is the matriarch and the brain of the operation — the one who sees the root issue, creates the plan, and leads with quiet strength.
How It Started
Hoof and Beak was born from a shared desire to build something better — not just for ourselves, but for our kids, and for anyone feeling the pull to reconnect with what’s real.
Between us, we bring over 30 years of experience in health and wellness — Chelsey as a registered naturopathic doctor since 2012, and me with two decades of strength coaching and health guidance. We've worked with people from every walk of life, and what we’ve seen again and again is this: when people step out of the noise and get back to the basics — real food, meaningful movement, time outside — they come back to life.
Our farm is part of that story. It’s where our beliefs take physical form. But the farm is just one piece. The heart of Hoof and Beak is in the coaching, the strength-building, the deep nourishment, and the guidance that helps people reclaim their health and live fully again.
A Holistic Approach to Health
At Hoof and Beak, health isn’t a one-lane road.
It’s a full-circle way of living that includes:
Strength and movement that build capability and independence
Whole food nutrition that aligns with our species-specific needs
Naturopathic guidance that gets to the root, not just the symptoms
And a return to nature, where true healing and resilience begin
We believe the human body is designed to thrive — but it needs the right inputs and a little direction to get back on track.
Back to Our Roots, Forward with Purpose
The modern world has made health complicated. But deep down, we all know it doesn’t have to be.
Eat food that came from the land, not a lab
Move in ways that make you strong and capable
Spend time outside, connected to your environment
Sleep deeply, live purposefully, and lead by example
We’re not chasing perfection. We’re chasing alignment — with nature, with our values, with the kind of life we actually want to live.
When the hoof and the beak work together — when strength and wisdom move in harmony — life gets a whole lot clearer.
