Sustainable Practices for Healthier Living
How Did We Get Here?
We’re Adam and Chelsey, a husband-and-wife team dedicated to health, sustainability, and regenerative farming. Our journey started with a shared passion for fitness and holistic wellness, but it truly took root when we became parents and realized how deeply food quality impacts health—not just for individuals, but for entire ecosystems.
Adam grew up in Ottawa, always drawn to sports and movement. At 16, he started volunteering at the YMCA, sparking a lifelong passion for coaching. He pursued kinesiology at the University of Waterloo, where a co-op placement introduced him to CrossFit. The methodology resonated—it wasn’t just about working out but about building resilience, strength, and real-world capacity. In 2012, he opened CrossFit Closer to bring that approach to the community.
Chelsey took a different but complementary path. She studied Physical Education at Queen’s University, then went on to earn her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from CCNM. Since 2013, she’s been helping people cut through the noise of modern health trends to find personalized, practical solutions that actually work. Her focus has always been on root-cause healing, using food, movement, and nature to restore balance.
In 2022, we welcomed our first daughter. Like all parents, we wanted to give her the best foundation for health. That led us to look deeper into where our food was coming from. What we found in conventional agriculture—factory farming, depleted soils, ultra-processed foods—didn’t align with the health we were striving for. If we wanted truly nourishing food, we had to grow it ourselves. And so, Hoof & Beak Farm was born.
We’re not just farming—we’re regenerating the land, raising animals with care, and producing food that nourishes both people and the planet. Our mission is simple: heal the land, heal our food, heal our bodies. Through Hoof & Beak Health, we help families take control of their well-being with practical, science-backed approaches to nutrition, movement, and sustainable living.
Whether you’re here to source better food, take charge of your health, or reconnect with what truly matters, we’re here to help.
